Reigniting a Vision: Himamaylan Library’s Digital Transformation
It’s Library Month, and our October series moves into a new chapter — the story of transformation.
In 2019, Vice Mayor Justin Dominic Silos Gatuslao saw the library’s deeper purpose — not just as a place for books, but as a cornerstone of education and civic engagement. His vision reignited the legacy of 1953 through the Library Modernization Ordinance of 2019, a landmark reform that brought Himamaylan’s library into the digital age.
Under his leadership, the library embraced digital cataloging, Wi-Fi access, and partnerships with PBED, Angat Buhay Foundation, DICT, and Google. org — transforming it into a space where knowledge meets technology.
The vision of 1953 had found its modern voice: a library built for the connected, curious, and empowered learner.
