HCPL lauded as Philippines’ Most Innovative Public Library

The Himamaylan City Public Library was named as the Most Innovative Public Library in the Philippines during the 6th Gawad Pampublikong Aklatan held at Epifanio Delos Santos in Manila on March 22, 2024.

The HCPL bested all other public libraries across the country in the Progressive Category for its Kiddie Learning Train Program and also in the Adaptive Category for facilitating Gabay at Turo (GAT) and free Civil Service Examination Review.

The recognition was given during the commemoration of the 65th Public Library Day in the country.

The 6th Gawad Pampublikong Aklatan’s theme says, “Ikaw, Ako, at ang Pampublikong Aklatan: Higit Animnapu’t Limang Taong Pagtutugunan”(You, Me, and the Public Library: Over Sixty-Five Years of Helping).

First established in 1956, the HCPL has gone a long way in terms of the services and facilities it offers. In the shelves are not only books but the clients, most especially the students and learners, can use gadgets that are helpful in their education.

HCPL was further improved following the passage of the City Ordinance 2019-12, authored by Vice Mayor Justin Dominic Gatuslao, which provides for the annual allocation to bankroll the operation and modernization of the city library.
